My favourite part about being at the Academy of Learning Career College, Kingston campus, was the hope that the staff and other students had. I was truly inspired to be studying at AOLCC because of that motivational environment. It didn’t matter who anybody was, their age or background, anybody could come back and study what they wanted.

AOLCC Kingston gives people a second chance without letting their past hold them back. This encouraged me to work very hard and do my best to get to where I am now because I wanted to uphold the motivation given to me by the staff and students and not waste the opportunity.

AOLCC Kingston also encouraged a friendly environment. It felt less like a strict college and more like a comforting home for all the students. I would like to thank you all for this amazing opportunity and I wish that you never change, because how AOLCC Kingston is now, is simply perfect.

I was very apprehensive about going back to school at my age as I had been a stay-at-home mom for many years. It was time for me to finally do something for myself, and it was now or never.

I knew I needed to upgrade my skills in order to get a job, but I didn’t want just any job: I wanted a professional career. I chose Academy of Learning Career College because it was the best fit for me. AOLCC was accommodating to me and my needs, as my role as a wife and mom were still very important to me. I decided that the Medical Office Administration Program was the perfect choice for me. It was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make but it turned out to be the best decision. I have learned so much and can’t wait to use the knowledge I have gained.

I would like to thank everyone at Academy of Learning Career College for their support and guidance and making my experience an enjoyable one. I would like to thank Hayley, my mentor, for keeping me motivated and wanting to see me succeed. There were many times I didn’t think I could do it, but with the support and encouragement of my family, friends and especially Hayley, I did it!

I always thought college was never going to work for me but AOLCC gave me the chance to really show my talent. Being able to go at my own pace and taking courses one by one as opposed to traditional college, I was able to focus and excel at my studies instead of getting overwhelmed and bogged down. The support I got from the facilitators was very helpful when I needed that extra reassurance or had questions. They were super friendly and never made me feel clueless or like I couldn’t ask for help. Graduating from my program with honours gave me a burst of confidence and validity that I can achieve things I initially felt out of reach for me. I am so excited to head towards my next adventure and I have AOLCC to thank for being that stepping stone.
